BOTOX^R Cosmetic is not a threat.

The news last week reported that the FDA issued an “Early Communication” reviewing certain serious events when BOTOX is used in extremely high doses in children, particularly for the management of a cerebral palsy. These children were treated with 14-35 times the doses used in healthy adults who use BOTOX for cosmetic reasons. This FDA review is related to the treatment of neurological disorders in children which include non-FDA approved uses in the USA and are usually done under a study protocol.

BOTOX Cosmetic is extremely safe, and there has never been a single death related to the cosmetic use of BOTOX in over one million people (over 3 million cosmetic BOTOX treatments have been done in the USA in 2006 alone). BOTOX Cosmetic is fully approved by the FDA for its cosmetic application to the frown lines and even in higher dosages in adults with excessive underarm sweating.
