Goal
Improving your ears so they’re closer to your head and have natural contours and a pleasing shape.
Who is a candidate?
- Adults who would like to reshape the conchal bowl (cartilage in the ear) and the antihelical fold (rim of the ear) to make the ear more aesthetically pleasing and closer to the head.
Procedure description
- The operation is usually performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia.
- The ears are usually bandaged with a dressing that wraps around the head for one week.
- Initial, mild postoperative discomfort is easily controlled with oral medication.
- The ears usually look “normal” within 10-20 days.
Otoplasties are often performed simultaneously with facelift surgery.
“Repositioning prominent ears is a challenging procedure that depends to a great extent on the surgeon’s judgment and skills. I’ll discuss all the details of the procedure with you so you’re fully comfortable and we can be sure you’ll receive the results you desire.”
