Using your own blood to stimulate new collagen growth beneath the skin, for the treatment of fine lines and creases.

Who is a candidate?

• Any healthy individual with fine lines and creases around the mouth, the nasolabial folds and crow’s feet region around the eyes.
• People who want natural injectable filler; one that does not contain any animal or synthetic components.
• People with a history of allergic reactions to other fillers

Procedure description

• Selphyl is performed in a single office visit. Blood is drawn from a vein in collection tubes which are then spun quickly to separate the red blood from the clear plasma fluid.
• This plasma now contains an enriched amount of platelets and proteins called growth factors which stimulate new collagen formation.
• The Platelet-rich Fibrin Matrix (PRPM) is then injected under the lines and creases of your face. Swelling occurs for 48 hours, depending on the skin thickness, there is a chance of bruising.
• Your final result is seen in 4 to 6 weeks as new collagen is regenerated by your own body. Early studies have shown the new collagen to last for 6 months or longer. You can safely repeat the Selphyl process in the future to either new areas or the same area to maintain your result.

• Sculptra & Selphyl
  Selphyl works very well with Sculptra, natural filler which stimulates new collagen. Sculptra is usually used when more volume enhancement is desired, such as improving cheek volume. But Sculptra is not indicated for the fine lines which form around the mouth and eyes, so Selphyl is a natural compliment for those regions.
• Fraxel Laser Skin Resurfacing & Selphyl
  After Fraxel re:pair (CO2) laser skin resurfacing smoothes the skin and removes sun damage, Selphyl can be used to enhance any remaining area to build new collagen. Together, Fraxel and Selphyl can create some dramatic smoothing of the lines and creases of the face.
• Botox/Dysport & Selphyl
  Crow’s feet especially respond well when either Botox or Dysport is used to quite the muscles creating the squint lines, while Selphyl builds the structure below the skin. Lines around the eyes come in the earliest part of aging, and the combination of Botox/Dysport and Selphyl can impactfully reduce the formation of crow’s feet.
• All other fillers & Selphyl
  Selphyl works well for the lines above the lip (lipstick creases) while the gel fillers work best to restore the soft volume and water content of the lips. Selphyl may work well for the most superficial lines in the skin of the face, where other fillers may leave an ‘edge’ effect. Selphyl may give more lasting correction of some acne scars and depressed scars as well.

Summary

The Selphyl system uses your own biology to stimulate tissue regeneration. You donate a small amount of your own blood to isolate the natural Platelet-rich Fibrin Matrix for injection into your lines and crease. Used in targeted areas of the face & neck, the platelets in the Platelet-rich Fibrin Matrix begin to naturally stimulate tissue regeneration. You use your own blood to avoid allergies to synthetic products. The downtime is limited, while the results last 6 months or longer.
